I am Uttam Niraula (M) a dedicated social activist and academic currently pursuing a Ph.D. from Tribhuvan University (TU). I serve as a faculty member in the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy (TU) and I am an Ambassador for Humanists International UK/USA. A fervent campaigner against Harmful Traditional Practices across Nepal, I have collaborated with the National Human Rights Commission and Women's Commission of Nepal to draft legislation against witch-hunting, dowry, and Chhaupadi. Internationally, I am recognized for my advocacy for religious tolerance, secularism, and minority rights. An accomplished author, I have published seven books on Humanist philosophy and culture. My extensive experience includes roles with WHO, UNDP, the Health Ministry, parliamentary committees, MoFAGA, and CIAA. Currently, I am the Country Director at Shanti Leprahilfe e.V., where I leverage my strong connections with parliamentarians and government agencies to advocate for social causes. I am a candidate for the AIN steering committee, committed to enhancing the public and governmental perception of civil society through ethical and effective communication, viewing social work as a profound responsibility rather than merely a profession |
